Nebraska Mailbag: On the QB competition, JD Spielman’s future and an over-under on wins in 2020 – The Athletic

LINCOLN, Neb. — A week has passed since Nebraska’s postseason hopes crashed like a field goal drilled square into the center of an upright. I hope the days provided at least a bit of relief for Husker Nation.

Coaches hit the road Sunday to recruit, so they had little chance to breathe. The players deserve a break. It ought to serve them well. Same goes for the fans. There comes a time, though, to rise and ask why this has happened again, what must be done in the weeks and months ahead and, yes, on whom to assess responsibility.

That time is now.

Did Nebraska jump the gun on extending Scott Frost? Will Luke McCaffrey get a chance to compete for the starting job at QB? Any staffing changes to come? — Jack G.
