Nebraska Football: Long-term deal for Scott Frost right move for program – Husker Corner

Nebraska Football has made the right move in locking up their head coach.

As the dust settles from the Nebraska Football loss on Saturday, there is some other news to report. Head coach Scott Frost has agreed to a seven-year extension that will keep him in Lincoln until 2026. The announcement came just before the team took on the Badgers, and after watching this game, I am glad he is it for the long haul.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done for this team to be successful. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and this program certainly needs some work. Particularly in recruiting, they need to get up to speed with the rest of the Big Ten. Signing Frost to a long-term deal is a smart move. After all, he has made it clear that he wants to turn the program around. Often times, continuity leads to success. In a crowded and talented conference like the Big Ten, constant turnover will not do Nebraska favors.

In the year two, there are signs of progress. However, there are still a lot of things to work on. Ensuring him long-term security allows him to build this program as he sees fit. Hiring and firing coaches year after year is not going to get done for Nebraska Football. They need some continuity. That is something they haven’t had in quite some time.
