Husker QB enters the portal – 247Sports

Nebraska walk-on quarterback Andrew Bunch’s name appeared in the transfer portal on Monday.

The QB who started a game against Troy in 2018 also was in the portal after last season, before electing to come back to Lincoln. Originally out of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, Bunch still has one more season of eligibility.

Due to an early-season injury to Martinez last year, Bunch joined the select fraternity of being the main man at QB for Nebraska for a game, completing 19-of-27 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the 24-19 defeat to Troy. He’d finish the 2018 season playing in five games, completing 31-of-47 passes for 320 yards. He ran it 16 times for 40 yards.

While Bunch was the backup QB to Adrian Martinez in 2018 as Noah Vedral waited for a waiver that came midway through the season, the quarterback was fourth on the depth chart this past season behind Martinez, Vedral and true freshman Luke McCaffrey.

Bunch ended up playing in just two games as a junior, throwing for 13 yards in the fourth quarter against Minnesota and leading the final drive in the Husker win over Maryland.
