Here are the new 2019 Top 30 Prospects lists – MLB.com

The unveiling of each team’s preseason Top 30 Prospects list is always an exciting time. Not only does it signify the start of another baseball season, but it also helps everyone get excited about the next wave of talent.

Whether your team is in “win-now” mode and focused on the Major League roster or rebuilding and loading up the farm system, it’s always fun to take a look at some of the talent in the pipeline and see who you may be cheering for in years to come.

As we roll out the new 2019 Top 30 lists for all 30 teams, culminating with the countdown of MLB’s Top 10 farm systems this Tue-Fri, here’s a look at each team:

American League East

Blue Jays

Toronto will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

Orioles

Baltimore’s Top 30 has a fresh look, with a third of the players on the list being acquired by trade, including four players netted in the Manny Machado deal. Two thirds of the list is expected to reach the big leagues this year or next. More »

Rays

Tampa Bay will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

Red Sox

Michael Chavis is the Red Sox lone representative on the Top 100 Prospects list, but the system isn’t as barren as th at would seem to suggest. Boston’s system has solid depth and with the Major League roster relatively set, the Red Sox have time to develop talent and replenish the farm system. More »

Yankees

The Yankees have a quality collection of high-ceiling, yet high-risk prospects in the system. New York has also stockpiled pitching depth — specifically right-handers. There are 21 right-handers — the most pitchers on any Top 30 — on the Yankees’ top 30, including several that have the potential to become frontline starters. More »

American League Central

Indians

Looking for a plethora of young talent? Look no further than the Indians’ Top 30 list, which is loaded with young players. The Indians may not have a bunch of prospects ready to contribute right away, but half of the top 30 list played as teenagers in 2018, which certainly bodes well for the next few years. More »

Royals

The Royals loaded up on pitching in the 2018 Draft and the results are evident as four of their top 10 prospects came from the first two rounds of last year’s Draft. Considering the fact that all of them came from college, they may move quickly through the system and possibly arrive a bit before some of the exciting bats at the lower levels. More »

Tigers

Detroit will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

Twins

Minnesota will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

White Sox

Chicago will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

American League West

Athletics

Led by Jesus Luzardo the A’s farm system should infuse plenty of young talent to the Major League club this season. Oakland’s Top 30 features 11 prospects with an ETA of 2019. However, the system is also balanced with 13 prospects boasting ETA’s of 2021 and 2022. More »

Angels

Billy Eppler has helped revive the Angels’ farm system, which was one of the worst in baseball just a few years ago. The Angels farm system is on the rise and although it lacks some depth, it does have a high ceiling thanks to several toolsy and athletic prospects. More »

Astros

Houston will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

Mariners

Jerry Dipoto relied heavily on trades to strengthen the Mariners’ system. Seattle has three prospects on the Top 100 list, each of which was acquired in a trade. In total, 11 of the Mariners Top 30 prospects came to the organization via trade, including seven of the top 15. More »

Rangers

The Rangers, both in the draft and via trades, acquired a lot of young talent last season. The farm system won’t help in the immediate future, but the Rangers do have 18 top prospects with an ETA of 2021 or later. More »

National League East

Braves

Atlanta will be ranked among MLB’s Top 10 farm systems. Its list will be revealed during this week’s countdown.

Marlins

The Marlins farm system isn’t elite, but it’s certainly improved since Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter bought the team. In the last 14 months, the Marlins have traded for 12 of their top 30 prospects, including No. 1 prospect Sixto Sanchez. Miami also made a splash on the international market when it landed Victor Victor Mesa, however there have been mized reviews and it remains to be seen how he will perform. More »

Mets

Since taking over as Mets GM, Brodie Van Wagenen has made it very clear that he wants the Mets to be in “win-now” mode. Van Wagenen traded away top prospect Justin Dunn and Jarred Kelenic to get Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano, so he’s certainly willing to part with prospects. Given that trade, plus the limited sample size of Van Wagenen as a GM, it’s hard to gauge what this system may look like in a year or two. More »

Nationals

The Nationals have certainly shown an ability to develop international prospects. Juan Soto took the league by storm last year and he wasn’t even the club’s No. 1 prospect. That honor fell to Victor Robles who was hurt for the majority of 2018, but should contribute in Washington this season. More »

Phillies

The Phillies farm system took a bit of a dip right before Spring Training when Sixto Sanchez was traded to Miami as part of the J.T. Realmuto deal. That being said, the Phillies system still possesses exciting young players and very good talent at the top of the list. More »

National League Central

Brewers

The Brewers don’t have a bunch of big-league ready arms in the system, however it is pretty easy to envision each of the organization’s top two prospects in the lineup at some point in 2019. Keston Hiura should hit his way to the Majors and Corey Ray, who has plus power and speed, may find a home in the outfield as well. More »

Cardinals

The Cardinals signaled that they are in “win-now” mode when the acquired Paul Goldschmidt and signed Andrew Miller over the offseason, however the veteran acquisitions don’t mean there isn’t any room for prospects. The Cardinals have 17 prospects with a 2019 ETA that they can either use to bolster the roster or trade away for more veteran talent. Looking further down the line, Nolan Gorman has a chance to be the centerpiece of the Cardinals’ lineup in the future. More »

Cubs

It was just a few years ago that the Cubs had the No. 1 farm system in baseball. Well, the bulk of those players graduated — helping the Cubs win a World Series in the process — and now the farm is in need of a rebuild. More »

Pirates

The Pirates have certainly drafted well in recent years. A stunning 20 of the club’s top 30 come from the Draft, including six of the top seven. And Pirates fans may not have to wait very long to see all that young talent as 13 prospects have a 2019 ETA. More »
