Nebraska Football: Program makes Top 10 for physical edge defender – Husker Corner

Nebraska football is faring well out on the West Coast.

Nebraska football has appeared in the final lists of many prospects, and a class of 2021 prospect has narrowed his list down to 10 teams. Nebraska football is in the running for outside linebacker Patrick Hisatake.

Hisatake measures in at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds. He is not ranked in the 247Sports composite rankings, but he is ranked in the 247Sports overall rankings. He is the 51st overall linebacker in the 2021 class, and the fifth overall player in the state of Oregon.

Along with Nebraska, he also has Boise State, Maryland, Michigan, UCF, Utah, UCLA, Kansas, California, and Arizona State. There are certainly a ton of West Coast schools in his list, which would make sense. The Oregon native would be silly to not put any West Coast Schools on his list.

Given the fact that he is a West Coast player, this is a recruitment where I see Nebraska on the outside looking in. He is also the type of player that is a diamond in the rough in my estimation. Given how he is not ranked by 247Sports, Nebraska is definitely getting to his recruitment at a time when it is heating up.

He is being recruited to Lincoln by Tony Tuioti.

Nebraska football has focused on defense with future classes to this point. The 2021 class has placed an emphasis on defense, with Ranolph Kpai and Christopher Paul Jr. a part of the group. Tuioti is without a doubt a great recruiter, so Nebraska definitely has that going for them. I could definitely see a situation where Nebraska makes his top five, and he certainly would be an asset to them.

I wrote a little bit about him a couple weeks ago and I was amazed at his physicality. He could be the perfect type of edge defender that Nebraska football needs moving forward. Nebraska is making a concerted effort to land defensive playmakers, and Hisatake would certainly fit that mold. I would be excited if he came here, and he would help the defense instantly.

Especially with Nebraska losing several seniors over the last couple of years due to graduation, landing strong defensive players in these next couple of classes would be a nice boost.

It certainly takes a while to rebuild the defense, and Nebraska could put a major dent in the rebuilding process with a commitment from him. I would be thrilled if he came to Lincoln, and it would give Tuioti another weapon to work with.
