Florida Gulf coast grad transfer Haanif Cheatham considering Arizona, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Arkansas and Virg… – Arizona Desert Swarm

On Tuesday, we wrote about the long list of transfers who are not considering joining the Arizona Wildcats, but here is one that is.

Florida Gulf Coast Eagles grad transfer Haanif Cheatham is considering Arizona along with Arkansas, Nebraska, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech, according to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.

Florida Gulf Coast grad transfer Haanif Cheatham told @Stadium he will visit Nebraska this weekend. Averaged 13.2 points per game. Also looking at Arkansas, Arizona, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game at FGCU last season, but was limited to 10 games (nine starts) due to a shoulder injury. (Notice that he is wearing a heavy brace in the picture above.)

Cheatham spent the first three seasons of his college career at Marquette, where he averaged 10.1 points per game over 70 contests.

Cheatham’s best year at MU was his freshman year, when he averaged 11.8 points per game with a shooting line of .489/.387/.820 and made the Big East All-Freshman Team while starting in all 33 games.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native was named the Golden Eagles’ Best Defensive Player in his first two seasons at Marquette, but a shoulder injury limited him to just five games as a junior before he transferred to FGCU where his senior season quickly came to end.

Aside from his perimeter defense, Cheatham could also sharpen the Wildcats’ shooting. He is a career 36.7 percent marksman from 3.

No, he is not related to Arizona State forward Zylan Cheatham.
