Oak Park (Mich.) high school three-star wide receiver Maliq Carr is one of the most coveted players at his position in the class of 2020. While his ranking may not blow you away, his offer list surely will.
According to 247Sports, 25 schools have offered the 6-6, 230-pounder including Syracuse, the first school to offer him, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana, Iowa and many others. There are a ton of schools pushing hard to land this athletic, strong, big-bodied pass-catcher. On Tuesday, he took a step closer to picking a school.
Carr has trimmed his list to five finalists and informed 247Sports of the schools still in play. Michigan, Purdue, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and LSU are the schools firmly in the mix for one of the top prospects from the midwest.
As it stands now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball is currently split. There is one pick in for Ohio State, which will surely change, another in favor of Michigan, a team still in the mix, and one currently listed as “cloudy” after a previous pick was listed. Look for a lot of changes to this as Carr continues to take unofficial and official visits.
Carr, who recently turned in an outstanding performance in Atlanta at the Pylon 7v7 tournament, was equally as impressive as a junior last fall. Carr had 21 catches for 815 yards and 9 touchdowns, as he helped Oak Park to a 9-2 record on the year.
Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Carr is listed as the No. 428 overall player in the country, No. 76 wide receiver nationally and No. 11 recruit in Michigan from the class of 2020.
