Former Nebraska running back Greg Bell — who left the program four games into the 2018 season — is transferring to his hometown school, San Diego State.
Bell told the San Diego Union-Tribune he planned to enroll in a summer session and attempt to be immediately eligible next season. Bell left the Husker program after he’d sunk to No. 3 on the depth chart behind Devine Ozigbo and Maurice Washington. Bell started NU’s first three games before getting benched.
Nebraska restricted Bell from transferring to Oregon State, where former Huskers Avery Roberts, Tristan Gebbia and Tyjon Lindsey transferred last season. Oregon State is on the quarters system and could accept late enrollees well into September.
A San Diego-area prep star, Bell originally signed with San Diego State out of high school, but failed to academically qualify for the school. He played two seasons
