Rimington winner Garrett Bradbury gets praise from trophy's namesake; ex-Husker also bullish on NU's future – Omaha World-Herald

Dave Rimington doesn’t pick the winner of the award named in his honor. But count him among those impressed by North Carolina State’s Garrett Bradbury.

Rimington — the former Nebraska center and college football hall of famer — lists the qualities that make Bradbury worthy of the Rimington Trophy that goes to the nation’s most outstanding center.

Athletic. Moves well. Pulls. Powerful enough to take on the biggest nose tackles.

Bradbury even accomplished something this year that Rimington never did — score a touchdown.

“They wouldn’t let me close to doing that,” said Rimington, who played for NU in the early 1980s. “I had to snap the ball to Turner (Gill) and let him and all those other guys get all the glory.”
